Ritratti d’Autori, torna la mostra all’Acattolico di Roma

L’insolita e sorprendente location del Cimitero Acattolico di Roma ospiterà dal 6 al 15 maggio 2022  “Ritratti d’Autori”, la mostra personale dell’artista italiano GulVin che racconta, attraverso uno sguardo approfondito, il mondo emotivo di 21 tra scrittori e poeti italiani e internazionali  del Novecento. Tra questi Pier Paolo Pasolini, Italo Calvino, Oscar Wilde, Jorge Luis Borges e Thomas Mann, legati tra loro da un sottile fil rouge esteso anche al  Cimitero stesso, luogo di raccolta e meditazione, quasi di culto, per i testi del poeta Keats e il pensiero di Gramsci. Per l’occasione, e per la prima volta, saranno esposti i ritratti di nuovi scrittori sepolti nel Cimitero: Carlo Emilio Gadda, Amelia Rosselli, Gregory Corso, e il più recente  Andrea Camilleri.

La mostra presenta l’impianto artistico di GulVin, già proposto nel settembre 2021 presso la Chiesa Episcopale San Paolo entro le Mura, e accolto dai visitatori romani e stranieri con grande attenzione e consenso. Il progetto nasce dall’idea di dare un volto a personaggi della cultura italiana e internazionale del Novecento che hanno accompagnato la giovinezza dell’artista toccandone il cuore, e suscitato emozioni e buone vibrazioni anche nei visitatori. Il tratto dell’autore ben racconta le emozioni che ‘emergono’ dai lineamenti e dall’espressione del volto nel ritratto dei vari autori selezionati, legati ai testi dei loro scritti come elementi espressivi delle loro personalità.

Il Cimitero Acattolico, fin dal 1716 circa, è uno dei luoghi di sepoltura in uso tra i più antichi d’Europa con le sue 4 mila sepolture: presenta tombe di scrittori, scultori, pittori e poeti protestanti, ortodossi orientali, buddisti e dell’Islam.  “Portraits of Artists” Exhibition at Rome’s Non-Catholic Cemetery

The Non-Catholic Cemetery in Rome is hosting from May 6 to 15, 2022, an exhibition “Portraits of Authors” by the Italian artist GulVin. His paintings depict the emotional world of Italian and international writers and poets, with an in-depth look at the faces of selected authors.In the unusual and surprising setting of the Non-Catholic Cemetery, next to the Pyramid of Cestius, the artist presents 21 poets and writers of the twentieth century: including Pier Paolo Pasolini, Italo Calvino, Oscar Wilde, Jorge Luis Borges, and Thomas Mann. The portraits are linked together with references to the cemetery and are in harmony with the cemetery as a place of gathering and meditation for people from around the world who come to honor the grave of Keats and his poetry as well as the philosophy of Gramsci.

GulVin’s portraits of well-known writers buried in the cemetery are exhibited for the first time: Carlo Emilio Gadda, Amelia Rosselli, Gregory Corso, and the most recent and beloved Andrea Camilleri.

Gulvin continues in this exhibition his presentation of paintings in the same way he showed his work at St. Paul within the Walls Eliscopal Church which was well received by the people of Rome. The portrayals of emotion appear from the features and facial expressions in the portraits and these are linked to the texts of author’s writings as expressive elements of their personalities.This project was born from the idea of ​​giving a face to Italian and international authors of the twentieth century who were part of GulVin’s youth and enchanted his heart. The artist hopes visitors will also be enchanted as the experience the exhibition.

The Non-Catholic Cemetery has been the final resting place ​​among pines, laurels and flowers, for people of all races, countries, ages and languages since the 1700s.
